A bunch of MOM MVPs were talking at the MVP Summit in Sept...We all came to the conclusion that the one MP that almost everyone uses is the AD MP. But, it is not quite configurable enough. And it lacks some integration with other MPs such as DNS, DHCP, FRS, and Server OS.
We decided to talk to the MOM Team about this, and they are just to darn busy on MOM v3. So...We stepped up and said we would create an Extended AD MP. Our MVP Lead thought it would be a good idea to get the AD MVPs involved. I sent out a couple of emails...posted to some private MVP newsgroups, and email lists. I have gotten a few interested parties, so the first task I am going to propose is to look at the way the AD MP monitors replication...and see what we can do there.
Most of the complaints the MOM MVPs have is that the latency monitors are not configurable enough and if you have slow links or large replication windows, you have to set the threasholds too high. And if a single DC misses replication...You get an alert from every other DC in the enterprise.
My hope is that we end up with a really useful extension for the community
