UI/UX: The Art of Business
Having spent the majority of the last few years deeply involved in the UX community as well as holding an Executive position in a successful UX company, Kim will outline the processes that make a User Experience company succeed. She’ll further define the difference between a functional UI and a compelling UX. Kim will address common pitfalls to avoid, speak about the negative reaction many developers have to the UX field, provide tools to assist the ideation process, and give you important UX/CX tips to help you understand what all this UX-nonsense is all the fuss nowadays!
Kim Schmidt
Kim Schmidt is the Co-Founder, Co-Owner, Corporate Evangelist, Microsoft Liaison, Key Strategist and Implementation Expert at UXSynergy, a part of d2bnetworks. In that capacity, Kim has formed a group of highly-talented designers and developers that create visually stunning, intuitively interactive applications using state-of-the-art technologies.
Kim has been a contributing author to David J Kelley’s “Hacking Silverlight” and Lynn Langit’s “Smart Business Intelligence Solutions using Microsoft SQL Server 2008”, and has written many articles published on many sites such as {interact}Seattle, vnext.org, and many other places.
In her day jobs, Kim wears many hats, including promoting one of the best outsourcing companies (in her humble opinion), but her passion is in Technology and Product Evangelism. Kim ran LASLUG (The Los Angeles Silverlight User Group) with the late Expression Blend MVP Victor Gaudioso, is an Executive Officer of vnext.org, and is the Executive Officer of vNext_OC, Orange County’s local vnext group.
Kim holds the prestigious honor of being voted the “National Association of Professional Women’s 2011-2012 Woman of the Year for Technology”. She also has two sons who would blow your mind away!
