InstallShield and InstallAnywhere prices will go up

In an e-mail sent today, Acresso announced that effective November 1, 2008, prices will increase on InstallShield® and InstallAnywhere®. There were no details in the e-mail, but according to my information the prices for full versions and upgrades of InstallShield and InstallAnywhere will go up substantially.

So if you plan to buy InstallShield or InstallAnywhere or upgrade to the latest version, you should do so before November 1, 2008. Note that until September 30, 2008 there are extra discounts available for some upgrades and end-of-life special offers.

You can buy InstallShield and InstallAnywhere in the InstallSite Shop

What do you mean by "substantially"? They already are -really- expensive...

Don't like that...

I don't like it either. I don't have the exact numbers yet but it looks like it will not be just "a little bit" more expensive, but much more. I don't know if there's a chance that they will change their minds before the increase becomes effective.

Oh boy. We get to pay more money for more bugs!

It would be one thing if they also announced that they were going to clean up the code and actually release a fully tested product instead the usual half tested code.

Prices may go up, but revenue probably will not.  Most people who contact me for installation assistance are requesting the project be done in InstallShield 12.

For me, InstallShield 2009 will probably be the end of the line. I'm waiting for Visual Studio Rosario with WiX.  If InstallAware would update WiXAware to WiX v3.0 schema, solve some of the usability problems, fix the bugs and WiX was to get Burn off of the ground,  InstallShield would be toast.
