I have lost Vista's Aero theme. - Matt Gerlach

I have lost Vista's Aero theme.

My computer is a gateway laptop, purchased in May 2005.  I have been part of the Longhorn/Vista beta since late July 2005 (when B1 released).  My video card has displayed Aero, on EVERY build.  ATI has it listed as being compatible with Vista since day one.

BUT, I have just installed Vista RC2, and It does not display.  Heck, it doesnt even give me the option!  I have updated to ATI's RC1 drivers (as those were more recent than the ones installed during Vista's installation.

Where I choose the theme, it doesn't even give me the option.  Any clues on what to do?

PS:  I love the snipping tool.

Rerun the "windows experience index" tool. If that does not help, revert back to the old drivers. Start at a low resolution.

I actually did try that.  And that didnt work.  Also activated.

I did achieve Aero last night, as I read about some registry fix in the beta newsgroups.  I don't think I can share them as of yet, because the newsgroups do require a password and such.  I am not sure exactly what can be, and what cant be shared.

Yeah, it happened to me when I ran the Nividia 7900 GTX (Microsoft WDDM) update by microsoft update. I went to Nividia's site to update my driver to the latest and greatest even though they say, "These drivers are only compatible with Windows Vista RTM build 6000 and higher, and should not be used with other versions of Windows Vista." It works! Worst case scenerio get the real version when it comes out. Big deal!
