How to setup your Gmail account with Windows Mail.
If you are wondering how to setup your Gmail account in Vista with Windows Mail, here it is.
Google provides instructions on how to do it, but the numbers never worked for me. I decided to play around with it and got it to work.
The first couple of steps are easy.
- Put in the name you want to display. Click Next
- Enter your email address for the gmail service (include @gmail.com). Click Next.
- The type of server is POP3
- For incoming mail, type in "pop.gmail.com" without the quotation marks
- For outgoing mail, type in "smtp.gmail.com" again with out the quotation marks.
- Click Next
- Enter your gmail username, but make sure you include @gmail.com at the end. Also put in your password for your account. Click Next.
- Do not download the email at this time, as it wont connect. You have to do a couple of more things. I have taken screen grabs using Vista's "snipping tool".
