Indigo and DCOM

So, I watched Don Box's tour of Building 42. It was definitely fun. Its nice to hear Scoble's questions which were a change from the usual know-it-all questions and Don was an perfect host as usual. (what do you expect from him anyway? :) ). But, there was part of the interview that made me a bit queasy. It felt a bit deja' vu, all over again. :) There was this bit about "indigo is going to be something that happens behind the scenes, i.e. you programmer should not even care that we are there.." so on. Anyway, My concern is that it sounds very much like marketecture language we heard during the early DCOM days (COM on a longer wire) which Don and Tim and Chris and others from DM tried to dispel. I know that Don and others are trying to make sure that programmers get the message. But, when one hears people developing this stuff saying it, one will start thinking that he/she does not need to study much of indigo and "it will just work". From my experience, I believe that nothing ever just works. One should pay his due to get it working correctly. i.e., Pay attention to the message, pay your due to security, make sure that you handle all the things coming back from the channel (not just the server), dont be chatty in your messages. I just hope that Don and others in MS will make sure that developers dont shoot themselves in the leg (the way the did last time with DCOM).
