iTunes for windows

I have an iPod (10 Gb) for windows. Pretty cool toy to own. I am thrilled with the new iTunes that apple has come out it with. But, for some reason I am just not able to import the MP3s I have on the machine. I need to figure out why this is so.. I wonder if this allows any plug-in development.. It would be cool to add a plugin to work with google to do some lyrics search while listening to some song.
