Question: Is Outlook Web Access (OWA) vulnerable to the authentication bypass?

Answer: No, OWA is not vulnerable to this vulnerability. Exchange 2007 and earlier supported the WebDAV protocol but they did so with an Exchange implementation of WebDAV which only reads/write to/from the Exchange store. It does not interact with the filesystem directly.

Please note that A LOT of users are having problems with this update, including:

- Information Store process not coming automatically up after the installation;

- windows installer interrupted;

- update hung on installation;

- message saying that Windows Installer was missing;

- at the end of the installation process a message popped up informing that the installation process did not succeed because of the fact that Windows Installer could not finish.

So, please test this before you actually apply it to our live servers!

The Exchange Support is great news but try installing it yourself. I have in my domain where all DC’s are 2003. I built a Server 2008 box (parent) then built two instances, one for backup storage (b2d) and the other Exchange. There are issues running the prep tool on exchange using Hyper V. These issues do not exist on standard, by the book, installs on single physical box for exchange only role. I wish there was support for issues I am running into now. There are no books that explain how to properly install it on Hyper V nor do any threads/forums talk about issues that occur during a Hyper V guest instance install.
