Windows Antivirus Machine Removal Guide
Windows Antivirus Machine is a computer infection from the
Rogue.FakeVimes
family of rogue anti-spyware programs.
This program is considered a rogue because it deliberately displays
false scan results, fake security warnings, and hijacks your computer so
that you are unable to launch your normal Windows programs. This rogue
is distributed using three methods. The first method is hacked web sites
that contain malicious code that exploit vulnerabilities on your
computer to install the infection without your knowledge or permission.
The second method is web sites that display advertisements that pretend
to be online anti-malware scanners. These advertisements pretend to
scan your computer and then state you are infected and should use
Windows Antivirus Machine to fix your computer. The last method is
Trojans that pretend to be software necessary to view online videos.
