what should i do i want cox security and i already have liveone care norton and mcafee and someone is still able to tamper with my persoal and private stuff as the matter of fact ill be lucky if this particuler message is sent w\o my hacker rying to block affraid that someone may help me detect him or her

The Norton Removal Tool of Symantec has been updated. The issue is now fixed. You can go ahead and use it to remove Norton product (if you don't want it).

My OS is Windows XL. You have convinced me not to use the Norton Removal Tool to remove the Norton anti virus program from my computer. Please tell me how to go about removing the Norton sample program that was installed in my Dell computer when I received it. Thank you!

Like Mary I hate Vista. Norton stopped working, I have no sound, DVDs are not recognised, cant play movies, can't open attachments from Inbox, can't open Word or Excel and it is slow. New HP Laptop - may as well throw it out the window.

The above link is to all those scared to death of uninstalling norton. I suggest unintalling it if you are having issues, TURN ON Window Firewall since norton turns it 'off' supposedly c.c. After you have windows firewall on for SOME protection (either that or disable the internet for a bit)USE the Norton Removal Tool. IF YOU GET the damaged device showing up in Device manager than read the posts at the link ABOVE, it provides some nice working out of this issue. Seems if you 'damage' this device by uninstalling NIS you can repair it.

and to think all this started when i was trying to find a way to make my Freelancer game work on windows vista. I guess some internet protocols are preventing me from connecting to servers online. Who woulda thought a MICROSOFT game would have issues... and no patches...

So tell how do I use a computer that will not allow me to do the things I want to do? I must admit I hate my new computer with Vista installed. I am not a computer person just a 62 year old women who wants to order on line and send and receive email. I don't think I am asking too much after spending $1100. on a new computer.

I have installed the Cox Internet Security Suite on my computer, the my system started to perform poorly so I removed Norton Internet Security suite. I wanted to make sure it was completely removed so I used their removal tool- under their support direction.

Now I keep getting this error "Authentium ESP3 has stopped working"

I suggest that anyone wishing to have Norton (or anything pertaining to Symantec) removed from your computer... have it professionally done~~~ AND beware that even some of the top geeks in this area will admit that it is close to impossible to remove it from some computers. The way they are bundling them these days (one hand shaking the other apparently, in the case of Norton + Microsoft), is done in practically a criminal fashion. Norton/Symantec is so deeply embedded in your OS that to entirely remove all traces is a similar scenario to removal of the worst possible VIRUS from your system. I wish there could be some sort of PROTECTION set up strictly for attacks of innocent people by manufacturers of such dangerous products. So far I have heard of nothing POSITIVE to be accomplished by having NORTON on anyone's system but it seems that util people start standing up and protesting this violation of our rights (this forced bundling by the manufacturers of new computers) we are going to be stuck with figuring out a way to over come this nasty virus, Norton !

Henry, that new version of the tool should not give issue anymore but to find out:

Open Device Manager of Vista and see if Microsoft Tunnel Interface Driver device driver is damaged/missing. If so, you'll see a yellow icon for Microsoft Tunnel Interface Driver.
