I found a new entry of software via CoU the other day. It's called EULAlyzer.

Manage Internet Explorer's Restricted Sites using ZonedOut

Funkytoad.com released ZonedOut - a utility that will allow you manage Internet Explorer's restricted sites. With ZonedOut, you can Add, Delete, Import, Export, Build a WhiteList and More!

The Menus:

Why ZonedOut is useful? If you are using any program (e.g. SpywareBlaster, Spybot Search & Destroy) or file (e.g. IE-SPYAD) that add list of bad sites in Internet Explorer's restricted zone, you will find ZonedOut useful! There are times we want to whitelist a site but the Internet Explorer's restricted sites' manager do not have “search utility“. You will find yourself scrolling or mess with Windows Registry Editor or use notepad to manually edit out what you don't want to be in restricted sites. With ZonedOut's search function, you'll just search for the URL and viola, you can delete it using ZonedOut or add it in whitelist. The whitelist editor will keep the URL for you. The next time a new definition or updated restricted sites is released, you don't need to do it all over again. It can be imported as a complete list or parsed against your whitelist.

There are more useful functions in ZonedOut that I'm sure user's of IE-SPYAD or other program that adds restricted sites will enjoy. Get it.. it's free from Funkytoad.com.

Funkytoad.com authored Hoster and IniBeast. Hoster is another utility to manage your HOST file while IniBeast is ini file tweaker.

Disclosure: I admit, I'm involved in the making of ZonedOut. No, I don't know programming. It's only my idea. I've been looking for such utility to manage restricted sites ... easier and I gave up looking for it because there is nada (as per Google OK? ;) ). I contacted Todd and beg :-D to “please create a restricted site manager utility“. Todd is one of administrator over in Gladiator Security Forums (visit us there!..). Thanks Todd for granting my request. Wait for my next request :-P

Microsoft AntiSpyware 'now' detects Hotbar

Earlier this month, we published a simple study (test) comparing few antispyware program’s real time protection - Does your antispyware’s real-time protection work?

One of the antispyware programs that we studied is Microsoft's Windows AntiSpyware Beta 1 which failed to protect the system in real time while installing a common threat Hotbar and did not detect Hotbar as adware or spyware.

Microsoft released 5729 definitions earlier today so I did another test using Windows AntiSpyware’s real time protection with 5729 definitions and using Hotbar's installer again:

I found a free application that will allow Internet Explorer users to view RSS, RDF and ATOM feeds. It is Chrysanth NETime Channel. I gave it a try (Internet Explorer 6 in XP SP2). See screenshot:

Microsoft AntiSpyware alerted me for installation of BHO, Toolbar and addition in the HOSTS file. WinPatrol alerted me on changes in the HOSTS file and installation of BHO. The added entry in the HOSTS file is 127.0.0.1 feedreader.netimechannel.com

Microsoft Fingerprint Reader is one of my new friend

The above is true! Microsoft Fingerprint Reader is one of my new friend :) I love it because I can log-in now with my computer, to any site or favorite instant messenger using my fingerprint. So easy! Just place your finger on the fingerprint reader and viola! you're “in”. It works great with any sites using Internet Explorer, Windows or MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger. I'll be trying to use it with other programs that I have and which requires a log on. It is so cool!

Netcraft Anti-Phishing Toolbar Available for Download

Another security program that is interesting to try and I think one feature that is attractive with this toolbar is... user can report a phished URL to help other people because once confirmed it is a phished URL, it will be blocked so other users will not become a victim

"The Netcraft Toolbar uses Netcraft's enormous databases of web site information to show you all the attributes of each site you visit on the Web, including the sites' hosting location, country, longevity and popularity.

Toolbar features include:
Clear display of sites' hosting location at all times helps you validate fraudulent urls (e.g. the main online banking site of a large US bank is unlikely to be hosted in the former Soviet Union).
