System Center Essentials 2007! Cool!

I read the Product Overview and Managed Services Overview of SCE 2007. I feel that SCE 2007 is an EXCELLENT product for Service Providers!

With System Center Operation Manager 2007, They become a total remote monitoring, managing and patching solution for Midsized Businesses.

Concept:

  1. Remote Management without VPN.
  2. SCOM 2007 located at Service Provider, SCE 2007 located at customer site.
  3. Operators at Service Provider are able to monitor the customer's system health, alerts, View the S/W and H/W Inventory, Approve the Patches for Deployment, Troubleshooting REMOTELY!
  4. It provides reports for "Time spent working on problems", "Top problems and trends", "Capacity Planning" "Availability". It also provides report customization!
  5. Software Distribution for MSI and non-MSI applications, drivers, Microsoft and non-Microsoft QFEs

How it works:

  1. The service provider installs Operations Manager 2007 and WSUS 3.0 at their premises.  The service provider installs the Service Provider Management Pack which provides customer centric views, tasks and reports.
  2. SCE 2007 is installed at the customer site and configured to communicate securely over the internet with Operations Manager 2007 at the service provider site.
  3. The service provider site regularly synchronizes with Microsoft Update (MU) and receives update content and metadata.
  4. Customer devices heartbeat with the SCE 2007 server at each customer site and each SCE 2007 server aggregates customer data and communicates with Operations Manager 2007 at the service provider site.  The service provider monitors and performs remote tasks over the internet using the Operations Manager 2007 console or opens a remote SCE 2007 console over the internet to a specific customer site to manage it.
