April 2006 Update Rollup for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
I was having 5 problems after the 26 April update.

1 component registration failed
2 some of the files needed to play radio or video are missing or corrupt.
3 Media center component registration may have failed
4 technical support. Code 3
5 video error (in live TV)

This fixed all the problems

1 Close Media Center
2 Click on the Start menu, choose run and type cmd
3 Execute the command regsvr32.exe atl.dll
4 Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched /unregServer
5 Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehSched /service
6 Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr /unregServer
7 Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRecvr /service
8 Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRec.exe /unregServer
9 Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehRec.exe /regserver
10 Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehmsas.exe /unregServer
11 Execute the command C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehmsas.exe /regserver
12 Restart Media Center

Does this mean, this April Update Rollup is not properly tested? So far it is 3 out of 3 people from here having some error or problem after the AUR.

Though, there are nothing from this AUR that I will benefit (from the glance). We don't get EPG data in NZ, so the Settings > TV > * (or guide) shouldn't give me error.

Anyway, I don't know what went wrong, after I removed AUR, and I managed to get my recording back.

Weird.

I updated my MCE 2005 and this morning noticed my firewall had flagged DRM migrate exe wanted to call the outside world... uh-oh I thought. Went to MCE, checked my new trial of the Akimbo service, and guess what? None of my paid for and downloaded content was there. A retry to re-obtain the licences brought errors... Something seems to have broken here pretty badly. I think that if something so fundamental as DRM breaks so easily as this it threatens any ones confidence to download content that cannot be backed up before it is watched.

Iam having the same problem code 3, its a guide problem why I do not know I am looking in to it, its also giving me a "video error".

System restore fixed the problem but i would like the update becuse of "guide data for ATSC minor channels that you have manually added" and "ATSC channels move into a five-digit channel range".

Hello Chris.

I am probably one of the few early adopter with this update rollup. After this update rollup, I find that "Error Code 3" is back.

I am not too sure what is causing it, however, if I got to MCE > Settings > TV, I get the error, and anything inside ot that TV settings, will give me the same error. Looks like history is repeating itself from Rollup 2 back in October.

What I did was, by removing the April Update Rollup and reboot, and it fixed itself. I will stay away from AUR for now.
