wow xbox 360 has a lot of problems though

Using the dual-core processors even software encoding would work nicely.

I have heard from a very reliable source that transcoding will be done via software (at least in this first generation), but output quality is really sketchy. Also, Intel's applications will use 10ft UIs as they are really trying to target the "mainstream user".

Here's to the possibility of built-in transcoding hardware! It would add a little sugar to the possibly bitter spoonful of DRM that will likely be supported directly by the hardware.
