Guide To Error C00D11DA In Windows Media Player
C00D11DA or "Windows Media Player cannot play, synchronize, or burn a protected file because an error occurred while verifying the license."
- Open My Computer
- Goto Tools | Folder Options
- Click the View Tab
- Select "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
- Check "Display Contents of System Folders"
- Uncheck "Hide Extensions for Known file types"
- Uncheck Hide Protected Operating Systems Files"
- Click OK
After that navigate to the following folder based on your Operating System...
Microsoft Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM
Microsoft Windows 2000: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM
Microsoft Windows 98: C:\Windows\All Users\DRM
Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me): C:\Windows\DRM
- Rename the DRM folder to DRMBACKUP
- In the Registry Editor (Start | Run | regedit), delete the following subkey in the registry. (Backup the Registry first, File | Export - In addition use System Restore to make a new Restore Point in Windows XP)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DRM
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Media\WMSDK\General
- Reboot your PC
- You may need to reinstall the software for your music download service and run the installer for Windows Media Player again after this.
NOTE: If your User Profile is a member of both the Administrators and Guest Groups it is also said to produce this error. Group membership can be changed in the Computer Management Snap-In under Users and Groups.
The folks at Napster appear to have a DRM Reset Tool that reportadly will help fix up this error also if the above did not help.
NOTE: Use at own risk! If this in some way screws up “something”, a call to Microsoft Product Support may to needed to fix it. If nothing above helps, calling Product Support would be the next step anyway, however.
