Development Update on Open Media Library Plug-in

Open Media Library (OML), one of the most recent open source DVD library plug-ins for Vista Media Center has been under steady development and appears to be coming along nicely.  The majority of the new features and additions have been documented on Google Code, and a more in-depth overview of what they are working on has been posted at The Green Button

Some of the top feature additions and changes are posted below as well as a screenshot of the current UI (additional screenshots here).

Recent feature changes/additions

  • MCML plug-in
  • x86 and x64 support
  • VIDEO_TS playback
  • ISO image support with Daemon Tools
  • UI redesign (pictured below)
  • Generic installer done
  • Command Line importer for My Movies XML files
  • Speed Tests ongoing (20 Secs to load 8000+ titles)

Will this support DVR-MS? Anyone know? Cause I have so many of these I dread the thougt of recopying them as images or vobs

This looks tremendous.  Am I understanding correctly that current video_ts combined with the extender support that is being worked on means that dvd's ripped to a hard drive as exact copies will play on an extender?  That is, no having to combine vob's, rename vob extentions, etc?  that would seem to be the holy grail everyone's looking for.

No.  That's a limitation of the Extender itself.  Software on the PC doesn't change that and never will.

Extender support for various video formats (including dvds) will be provided through transcode360.

Does Transcode360 support video/flv and/or rtmp:// streams?

Is Transcode360 open-source, and what is the current link, I can only find a page that seems to be quite outdated.
