D-Link DSM-750’s Being Reported as Defective?

It was bound to happen, a product that had been delayed for months and months finally ships…and now people are reporting defective units.  I’ve seen multiple reports, but one user at The Green Button got through with D-Link support and is supposedly getting a replacement unit.  The issue appears to be failure to get the unit to connect to Media Center, even after the proper update/SP1.

It will be interesting to see how D-Link handles this.  I’m interested in how exactly the units are “defective”; I’m wondering if a firmware flash would actually help.  I know one person that has successfully had a DSM-750 working, so I’m pretty sure not all shipping units are truly defective.  I’ll follow-up on this as time passes.

Would not respond to remote commands at first, but found if i put slight pressure to top front of unit it wil work. Also is very picky of audio formats. Using HP Pav. w/vista op. and dlink router DIR-655 and networked with Dlink DNS-323 NAS server, found it doesnt play wma lossless. Tried wma pro and it will play some files and lock up on others. Also was seeing album art at first, but not now. Dont know  if this is all caused by same defect or not, but is going back for repair. Otherwise works great with photo and video files.
