"Mediaroom will now let you share content to other Mediaroom STBs"
Are you aware if this includes sharing/streaming to Media Extenders? I'd hate to invest in a house full of Media Extender TVs (like HPs) to support Media Center only to find that I have to buy new equipment to support IPTV.
Re: BT IPTV - At first I thought this was only available to XBox units acquired from BT...not so, BT will allow their customers to enable IPTV on their existing XBox 360 units.
Your right, the wording in the keynote wasn't that great. The press release says "The service will be available to existing and future Xbox 360 console owners."
I don't think Extenders are part of the mix with IPTV. Your Mediaroom STB will be used for the DVR Anywhere feature.

Seems like I'd be better off buying XBox 360s than Media Center Extenders if I want to future proof. Its a shame because I was interested in getting one of those HP TVs with built-in Media Extender.
Future proof is an interesting term though. v1 Extenders seemed future proof at the time. Also, while I'm not saying Media Center is dead, based on CES Microsoft wanted to make a big splash with Mediaroom which would seem like it is a top interest. That said, for a product that is only available in 2 dozen US markets, I didn't see why they pushed it so big at a US trade show.
So can you clarify is my existing 360 gonna have the capibility to be a STB and a game system?
Assuming you have IPTV service from BT (which means you live in the UK), then according to the press release, yes. However, they did not say what it costs, if there is a fee, etc.
Any ideas if DirecTV would roll out the mediaroom technologies. AT&T U-Serve is not yet in my market and not sure when it would be. Hey thanks for all the info you provide. You do a great job of keeping me current on this ever changing technology!
