Sony Not Out of the Media Center Market

Jon Piazza of Sony says there is “no way whatsoever are we out of the HTPC MCE business” despite the XL3 Digital Living System being unavailable for purchase.  Piazza says “it is indeed sold out from our Sony Style,” but it is not clear what that means.  I replied to his comment, and I’m hoping that Piazza gets back to me (e-mail address was not left).  Is the XL3 discounted as several CSRs have reported, or is it simply out of stock?

The XL3 Digital Living System has apparently “exceeded their expectations” in the short time it has been out, and in the next few months they will have some new offerings out.  Given this, I’m left scratching my head as to why it appears to have been discontinued.  The website notes that “This product is no longer available for purchase” and not says nothing about it being a stock issue.

The good news is while the XL3 still might be dead, Sony has other offerings coming.  If I could make a suggestion to Sony, this one better have dual CableCARD support at the least.

Yikes.  It left you "starching" your head?  It must be very confusing :).

So confusing that I don't need to spell anything right to get my point across.
