HP Readying CableCARD Desktops
According to EngadgetHD,
HP is finally getting ready to add CableCARD support to a few of their
desktops. Said to be in the m8010y and
d4890y series, these will be HP’s first entry into the CableCARD market as well
as the first from one of the big OEMs.
We can only hope that HP is making it so we can configure
the system ourselves a bit, and maybe leave out the Blu-ray and HD DVD drive
combo quoted by Engadget to be a choice. That drive
itself is likely +$1,000 on the price tag. If HP can ship a $1,500 PC with CableCARD support, who here is going to grab at it?
