HP Readying CableCARD Desktops

According to EngadgetHD, HP is finally getting ready to add CableCARD support to a few of their desktops.  Said to be in the m8010y and d4890y series, these will be HP’s first entry into the CableCARD market as well as the first from one of the big OEMs.

We can only hope that HP is making it so we can configure the system ourselves a bit, and maybe leave out the Blu-ray and HD DVD drive combo quoted by Engadget to be a choice.  That drive itself is likely +$1,000 on the price tag.  If HP can ship a $1,500 PC with CableCARD support, who here is going to grab at it?

Not me...all I want is something that looks like a tivo3 but with the MCE interface for about $300-400.  The xbox360 is close, but it's too loud.

I would like one like you said with the option of having HD-DVD or BluRay to keep the cost down. But they really should add Cable Card to their component-shaped entertainment PCs, quieter fan as well as gigabit ethernet for better streaming to 360 extenders. Too bad they are fools for eliminating that product.

I'd love to get a cablecard system asap, I've been waiting on Dell since I simply cannot pay $2500+ for a cablecard system. So if this comes soon and at a decent price I'll be sure to jump on it.
