Monster Announces First v2 Media Center Extender

[CES] Monster First to Announce Media Center Extender; Teams with Lifeware (CE Pro) | I’ve already covered Exceptional Innovation and Monster, but here’s the cooler part.

Monster is creating PowerCenters with Media Center Extender built in!  Not much information other than that at this point.  Sadly, Julie notes that Monster is the only company to announce a v2 Extender at CES.  It was not on display at CES, but will be at the Spring Electronic House Expo.

Cool. I have been dissapointed up to this point, for not hearing anything about v2 extenders. Please Please, let it, and others to come, support more formats natively, especially DVD.

The digital display makes this so much more useful than a normal extender.  It frees it from the TV, which means you could stick this thing anywhere.

Very disappointing.  How could no one be announcing V2 extenders with the Vista release coming up so soon.  This would be the perfect time to generate excitement about these products.

You would think Microsoft would anticipate & counter Apple TV announcement with some some excitement around Media Extender.  Frankly if the hardware partners are not up to the task..then Microsoft needs to develop one themselves under the Zune brand.

Zune branded Media Extender that can work with Media Center or XBox 360 IPTV.

One other suggestion, Microsoft should work with Nintendo to incorporate Media Extender into their product.

Yeah, I'm completely surprised that no V2 extenders were announced? What is up with that!

That looks almost like a PC.  Why do you need something so big to be an extender?  There doesn't seem to be any practical difference between this an just a media center pc.

Surely someone (including Microsoft) could develop a reasonably-priced, small form-factor, consumer electronics device extender with HDMI output and wireless/LAN connectivity.
