Appliances From LG Will Change The Way We Do Laundry Forever
Washers and dryers are
just the beginning as Exceptional Innovation and LG embark upon an appliance
revolution that will converge white box goods into a Life|ware home network.
Las Vegas, NV – CES
2007 – January 8-11 – Next Gen Home located in the Central Plaza across
from Central Hall – Popular conception holds that today’s home automation means
some lighting and temperature control, while automated appliances remain part
of a Jetson-like future we’ve never quite arrived at. LG is the first major
manufacturer poised to change this notion, working in conjunction with
Life|ware™ 2.0 software from Exceptional Innovation.
For example, if you’re upstairs watching television in a
Life|ware networked home, a message appears on-screen to let you know the
washer has completed its cycle, or the clothes in the dryer are ready to be
folded. No more mildewed clothes or ‘I didn’t hear the buzzer.’ With Life|ware
Connected™ appliances, anything an appliance has to say can be heard all around
the home.
Life|ware Connected identifies all of the current
controllable subsystems that Life|ware is compatible with. The key to Lifeware
Connected is the use of Web Services for Devices (WSD) to communicate with LG
appliances. Instead of using inflexible, proprietary drivers, Life|ware home
control software reaches out to the LG washer and dryer through the flexible,
cross-platform WSD standard to enable rapid two-way communications with the
appliance.

Russound Announces
Unique Smart Media Console Using Intel Viiv Technology and Windows Vista
New Smart Media
Console brings Russound functionality, convenience and integrator friendly
features to media center applications
LAS VEGAS, NV,
January 8, 2007—Russound®, the #1 brand in multiroom audio, today announced
a new Smart Media Console based on Intel Viiv™ technology and the Windows
Vista™ operating system. Unlike most media center products, which are designed
by PC manufacturers with an "information technology" approach,
Russound's new Smart Media Console is designed from the ground up as a
multiroom audio-video home entertainment system, perfect for today's custom
installers. The result is a product built with proven technology elements such
as the Intel Core™ 2 Duo processor and other robust components, and
specifically designed to serve as the hub of professionally installed home
media and residential control systems.
"Most PCs running media center applications are
essentially retrofitted work tools," says Jeff Kussard, Russound's Vice
President of Strategic Development. "The Russound Smart Media Console is
expressly designed as a Russound product. We have added the features that the
industry has come to identify with Russound, reliable components that are
easily incorporated with multiroom systems and home automation equipment.
Russound takes the power of media center applications and makes home
entertainment simple and enjoyable for both the user and integrator."
