Ultra-Mobile PCs First To Get SoftSled!

Origami Tablet PCs to Run Special Media Center Extender Software | CE Pro has the long awaited word that Ultra-Mobile PCs (formally known as Origami) will include the first Media Center Extender software (aka SoftSled).  “Microsoft is coming out with a software version of MCX expressly for Origami, meaning these little touchscreens can serve as a slave to any MCE in the house, so users can play recorded content, exploit Online Spotlight, use the electronic programming guide -- anything they can do with other MCXs (and most things they can do with an MCE).”  Todd Rutherford, Microsoft Program Manager for eHome Control, made the announcement at the Media Center Boot Camp held by CE Pro at EHX.  There is no date for release yet, but the first official “SoftSled” is now in the works!

Update: 4/6 UPDATE: I may have misspoken. Microsoft explains that indeed there will be some kind of Media Center integration for Origami, but the exact implementation is still under development. Other edits have been made to this posting. -JJ

If it comes with a wall-mount that you can snap in and out, it would be a terrific option for the kitchen/bedroom.
