# re: Windows Media Player Podcasting Plug-Ins

None of these are actual WMP plug-ins though, are they? I mean, Doppler and iPodder are just standalone apps that get the files for you, and work with whatever media player app you have. And it looks like all the others are, too.

Are there any TRUE plug-ins? As in, runs integrated in WMP?

This will auto-create an ASX playlist from any RSS feed with enclosures:

A plugin using the WMP SDK is way overkill! It's just not that hard a job.

Jason: You are right about them not exactly being "plug-ins" to the effect most people think of the term.

Doppler is a great tool - it sometimes has trouble with RDF and PHP-driven RSS feeds but other than that I've found it to be much more reliable than the iPodder Lemon (Lemon sometimes didn;t pick up on the fact that new shows were posted).

# re: Windows Media Player Podcasting Plug-Ins

The problem is that your podcasts get mixed in with your music.  Hence, when you want to losten to a podcast you can't find it and when you want to play a bunch of random songs your podcasts appear halfway through the playlist.

You need an actual seperate section so that one does not pollute the other.  Only a proper plugin (or a change to WMP) can achieve that.

For those already trying IE 7 (currently beta), try using its RSS aggregating feature to download the files - works quite well for me!
