Polish Emerald for 2006 | Joe Wilcox over at Microsoft Monitor says “Emerald” should be Windows XP Media Center Edition 2006.
I fully agree with Joe's comments here and feel that Micrsoft will do themselves justice to call the upgrade Media Center 2006 rather than calling it something like The 2005 upgrade. However, one thing that needs to be mentioned is that Microsoft needs to handle the upgrades from 2004 and 2005 to 2006 and not wait for the OEM's to try and do this. This is for two reasons really 1) Not all OEM's have supplied the upgrade and those that have haven't performed to do so in a quick and swift manor 2) Media Center isn't just sold to OEMs but also to Sysem Builders and they don't necessary have the capabilities or means to support an update.
