Chad, anything changed in this arena? I'm faced with the need to build an extranet for a SBS customer. If I can't do an external connector to SBS (I think that's probably a bad idea anyway), I can just put a standalone 2003 R2 box in the DMZ with an external connection license, right? What changes if this new box is an AD domain member instead of a standalone?

Very helpful article since we are considering SBS. The big question we have is how to use SBS (SharePoint) to collaborate with external users?

Pablo - yes, you need to take SQL licensing into account, but only if you're using the full SQL backend versus WMSDE. Additionally, in an SBS environment, there aren't any additional SQL licensing requirements, as the SBS EULA explicitly allows us to use SQL to backend public web sites.

SO - if you have a straight Win2k3 box running WSS and using full SQL as it's data source, then yes - you will need necessary SQL licensing to cover your Sharepoint users as well.

Chad, you don't mention SQL licensing considerations. As SQL is the data store for Sharepoint, I guess you need to cover the number of users (internal or external) using either CALs or per processor licensing, don't you?
