I actually think the point was to align it more with the .Net logo.

the "Wave" (eg. .Net logo) was received really well.

VS also hasn't had a logo upgrade in a LOOONG time, so i definitely think it was about time that it got a facelift into the 21st century :)

My personal opinion -- while I think it's better than the previous VS logo, I also think it might now be TOO similar to the .NET logo in color and style. Then again, maybe that's what they're trying to go for -- a more unified look?

Richard, stay on them!!!! If you are under warranty you are a bit safer but if not call everyday, take names, play dumb, ask questions. I was on them everyday and it was still a month because of the old "back order" nonsense.

I had an accident with my m1730. Was at a friends house took my laptop out side on the balcony to smoke a cigarette when my friend said something so I turn to ask "what" and hit my laptop by accident with my elbow an it fell damaging it.

I contacted dell once I got home they sent a overnight box been a little over a week with no response from dell.

Should I just keep waiting or bug the hell out of them?

THANK YOU Russell Carolla!!!!!!! I cannot believe it, but the oven technique actually worked. I felt stupid even trying it, but my laptop is now working like new! I'm going to invest in some good thermal paste and cooling and then I think I should be ok to go. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT WORKED EITHER!! I've had that laptop sitting on my shelf for over a year and I've since bought a new computer. Now I have a laptop again! I'll get that fan control from dell as well for sure.

Are you serious? Putting the video card in the oven fixed the issue for you?

I also had the exact same problem as you are all describing. The problem is that I only had a one year warranty and wouldn't you know it... the whole thing crashed about 1 month past the warranty date. So after hours on the phone with Dell getting nowhere, I found that they could sell me the video card replacement for about $750 (if I remember correctly). I never did get that and my laptop has been a big paperweight for about a year and a half now. If this "oven technique" works, I'll give it a try as rediculous as it sounds since I've got nothing to lose. I'll post my results..
