Late last night I got the email from Microsoft, letting me know that i've been awarded the 2009 Microsoft MVP award.

Again, i am honoured to be counted with some of the brilliant minds in our industry and very pleased that my contributions this year has gotten me yet another recognition from Microsoft.

Needless to say, nobody's going to be resting on our laurels here :)

So thanks to everybody that's helped me out in the past year!

Microsoft has just launched their Microsoft Certification Hero Campaign which enables MVPs to forward some nice benefits for those wishing to take any MCTS, MCITP or MCPD exams before May 31st, 2009.

Perth gets two (sorry, three) brand new MVPs – Congratulations to the both of you!!

The communities i Perth are thriving – evidence of this is that we now have two (yes, 2) three (i stand corrected, we have 3) new MVPs.

The first is Mitch Wheat – everybody knows Mitch as the leader and organiser of the Perth .Net Community of Practise user group. Mitch has been running the group for quite a while and as i’ve said before he does so brilliantly.

So welcome and congratulations to Mitch.

Mitch was awarded in the C# group, so we now have another developer based MVP in Perth!

The second person is Sezai Komur (apologies to Sezai for the terrible cut/paste job for his blog url) – whom got awarded in the SharePoint group.

I’ve been following his blog for quite a while now and he definitely know what he’s talking about.

I hope to see more from Sezai in the future and want to welcome him into our little cozy family.

Congratulations Sezai – SharePoint is THE platform of choice for many these days and i’m certain you’ll be busy!

Another year...

I just received my confirmation email, letting me know that i've been re-awarded for 2008-2009.

I'm still going to participate in the ASP.Net category. 2007-2008 really saw some dramatic changes in my field and i'm sure the next 12 months wont be any different.

One of the bigger things on my table (something which i've held sort of secret) is the fact that i'm writing a book. I'll be revealing more on that as i get more time to blog.

So thanks to all of the great guys at the MVP Program - especially a big thank you goes to the Australian DPE team (Michael Kleef, David Lemphers, Charles Stirling, Nick Hodge and last, but not least Scott Barnes) for the events over the last year. Hope to see you all around!

April Award Cycle - Today's the day

Well, another year has gone by where i've met a lot of great people and been involved with a bunch of programs.

It's been a good year, both personally and professionally, and i'm looking at 2008 to be even better.

I'm in the "April Fools" award cycle in the MVP program, which means that today's the day i find out if i've been re-awarded or not.

Keeping my fingers crossed that i've contributed enough to the community.

If it doesn't come to pass, then i hope that everybody will keep in contact and i'll possibly see you again next year.

Australia gets a new SQL Server MVP - Congratulations Jeff Wharton!

I predicted this one..honestly i did because it was as clear as crystal that Jeff Wharton would be next in line to join those geniuses on the MVP program ;)

I think personally that Jeff is more than just qualified..he's done a heap of work for the SQL Server community and not just in Australia.

So here it is, the newest member of the Australian SQL Server MVP family - Jeff Wharton! Congratulations Jeff!

p.s. sorry i'm a bit slow in the uptake..but better late than never!
