Pet peeve – stupid ads on web sites
On a quiet sunday morning, kids are playing outside, wife’s in the kitchen preparing something for a BBQ later today and i thought i’d do some surfing…on the interweb that is. Following a few links around and then i get hit with something that annoys...

Dell replacing motherboard and graphics card in my XPS M1710, again – 4th time now
It seems that i’m going to punted with yet another set of REFURBISHED parts from Dell for my XPS M1710. Had recently had two major crashes, one was a certain overheating fault (again, wow, what a surprise) where i was warned that the system had shut down...

No end in sight for my Outlook Connector problems?
man – i have to admit that i’m getting very, very close to ditching Outlook and the Outlook Connector altogether. I seem to have intermittent problems with it…first it wont connect, then it goes crazy with my contacts and now i keep timing out. Funny...

Banks using not-so-best-practises…
One of the idiosyncrasies today with banks is that they “claim” to be securely holding your funds and are normally very strict on giving out personal information. If you call a bank up to report a lots credit card, or have any queries at all, you get...

I am done with wireless keyboards
That’s it – no more wireless keyboards ever. i’m switching back to wired keyboards again – pulled my old 1st Gen. Logitech G15 out of storage and have plugged it back in again. I’ve been through quite a few keyboards over the past years and even though...

I hate dentists - irrational?
I was lucky enough to crack a wisdom tooth earlier this week (don't ask me how). The tooth had been dead for years and obviously had started to decay (dead teeth apparently do that) enough that I managed to crack it. 1/3 of the tooth broke away and...

Call for help - mozzy attacks!!
Well, i'm now resolving to desperation - Mozzies...my nemesis is eating me alive these days and i need some remedies. I've tried mozzy repellant sprays - even "Jungle Grade" repellants (or so the canister says) - sprayed myself near...

Michael Kleef brings up my favorite pet hate - fuel prices
Michael Kleef brings up my favorite pet hate - namely, fuel prices!! Way to go Michael, i can blog it but i can't speak about it in the car! One of the things i'm never allowed to discuss in the car is fuel prices - my wife absolutely hates it...

Dell services going down hill...
Well, wasting rent here - Dell seems to be good at making promises, but can't seem to get their act together for the follow-up. Edit: I called this morning at 8am to confirm that the technician was going to show up and was told that my parts would...

Google Chrome Exploit - Auto Download
Ok, it's now blatantly obvious that Google Chrome was released in a rushed, incomplete (even for Beta releases) and faulty state. An Auto-Download (extremely simply executed at that) exploit was found and has been published. We're talking about...

What a bother - Trend Micro and Office SP1
I installed Office SP1 early on in the week and things were running rather smoothly. That was of course until i wanted to run Outlook 2007. I'm connected to an Exchange server via Outlook Anywhere (RPC over HTTP) and for some reason it wouldn't...

More fun with Daemon Tools...
As i mentioned in an earlier post , Daemon Tools wanted to install their Sponsor Ad module. Naturally i choose not to, so i didn't expect it to put anything else in. But more the fool to me - my "Home" page, which is "About:Blank"...

Daemon Tools doing the "Ad" thing
I needed to get another "virtual media" a la .Iso file mounter as MagicDisc (which is the one i usually used) apparently can't get their fingers out to fix whatever is wrong with their 64-bit installer..getting a "Platform not supported"...

Google-toolbar - a virus?
Misinformation or just basic ignorance? does it matter when the effects are the same? I hate this little creeper - once you've gotten hold of it you're screwed. Your version of Internet Explorer is suddenly on shaky grounds - crashing constantly...

This is a love-hate relationship (or should i say, i love to hate this player?) - the Adobe Flash Player add-in for Internet Explorer. Over the last two days i've been visiting Sharepoint Pro Live - and online sharepoint event - which just happens...

Warranties on PC components
Well, this is a rant, as i'm rather furious. earlier on, i mentioned that my desktop PC's Asus M2n32 WS Professional apparently has a faulty BIOS chip - so what do you do in a situation like this? First off i tried to troubleshoot as much as i...

Thinking of ditching GMail
I'm getting a bit tired of the hypocrisy coming from Google these days..it does seem as if they're getting too big for the boots and it's starting to give me a bad taste in my mouth to use their services. First there's of course the fact...
