NTBackup is gone from Windows Server 2008? Michael Kleef #MSFT#

Having never really liked NTBackup, i can't say that i'm saddened that it's been replaced.

From all accounts, the new feature - Windows Server Backup - is more than capable, although lacking the support of tape backups.

On that note, i'm definitely not feeling a loss. I cannot stand tape backups and in my opinion tapes should be eliminated entirely. they're unreliable, slow and basically just a pita to work with. I don't know how often i've tried to bring back a system from a tape backup, only to find after hours of work that it simply just didn't work. And this could even be from a tested backup (eg. backups are only really any good if you also TEST them after you've taken it). Magnetic tapes are, simply put, useless.

Anyways, Michael Kleef speaks a bit about this on his blog.
