Google-toolbar - a virus?
Misinformation or just basic ignorance? does it matter when the effects are the same?
I hate this little creeper - once you've gotten hold of it you're screwed. Your version of Internet Explorer is suddenly on shaky grounds - crashing constantly.
To this day i still don't quite see the attraction of this malicious piece of software. What does it offer?
lets see what is highlighted - Instant suggestions as you type in the search box? Bookmarks you can access from any computer? Pop-up blocking?
So those three points are meant to be the sole brilliant stroke of marketing? uhmmm..
IE7 has pop-up blocking - don't need google toolbar for that.
Bookmarks - i have lists elsewhere that does that for me, don't need google toolbar for that.
Instant suggestions as i type in the search box - uhmmm..not going to bother commenting on that feature..other than say, worthless.
You get a search box for Google in IE..uhmm..doesn't it have that already? i still fail to see what exactly the bonus of this piece of software is.
So why are Google so adamant in spreading it? it's starting to take on the look of a virus...or should i say, adware (malware?). It disrupts the stability of IE to the extent that removing it wont fix things. Actually need to uninstall/install IE again to get back on track.
What does the Google toolbar do under the surface that it's now bundled with every single piece of freeware on the market - well together with yahoo toolbar of course. I really would like to know what the big interest is here.
Today i needed, to my disgust, to install Adobe Reader - yes i know, i hate this piece of bloatware as well. How can something as simple as reading a PDF document need 30mb+ of application? seriously? 99% of users only need it to read a document..and that's it..nothing else. and for that we need 30mb+ of compiled code? c'mon!
Of course, this is where my disgust rose above and beyond...the massive bloatware of course had to add insult to injury by shipping with Google toolbar as well. Thank god it's possible not to get it..at least it's still a free world!
