My turn - crook as a dog

My wife's always said that i whine more than anybody else when i'm sick..i moan, i cough, i sweat and i'm cranky as hell...supposedly my wife is smarter than me so she's most likely right..well, i don't whine or whimper...do i?

Anyways, the kids has just been sick and the wife is just getting over her own cold/flu/virus and of course the exposure was eventually going to get me as well.

Yesterday morning it started slowly..a bit of the sniffles...then later in the afternoon, coughing and heat-flushes. Last night i was a mess as i couldn't quite hear very well and my sinuses are now stuffed as well.

But, since my wife seems to think i'm a whinger/whiner/moaner i made a super effort in not bringing it up at all last night...no moaning or whimpering...dang i'm a big boy!

Yesterday in the office a few of my colleagues told me i should go home so i wouldn't spread the disease/virus/cold to everybody else and normally i would agree. But we're busy...extremely busy seeing as we have a big release coming out pretty soon and i have some more features to develop plus a few bugs has popped up.

I know that if i go home and try to work remotely that i wont get anything done - i'm just not in that mindset any longer on working from home when you're sick. it doesn't really help anybody (short term gain but long term loss) seeing as i wouldn't be getting any rest, nor would any work i did be 100% reliable...well, who can code perfectly when you're hit with a 39.2c temperature?

Question is then: do you go to work when you're sick?

Absolutely NOT. Yeah you may have deadlines to meet, but if you spread your cold/flu/virus to your colleagues instead of just yourself being less than productive,  you can bring down the team

I usually try not to..for the simple reason of not passing it on to everyone else.  Having said that I did go to work for awhile when i was really sick cause i'd run outta sick leave..until i found out i had Glandular Fever..then they pretty much insisted I go home and they'd pay me :)

Well, as it turned out i went home.

I had to rebuild my PC yesterday and didn't quite finish it off before going home, so i came in at around 6:10am to finish it off.

By 8:15am i was feeling really sick again and figured i'd better go home and rest a bit.

That way i wouldn't spread it to the rest of the office.

I try to get in when i'm crook and stay until i feel absolutely knackered - but deep down i feel bad for leaving..guess it's the workaholic in me.

I'm not sure what it is but when I'm busy I don't get sick. But when I stop after being busy, I get crook as a dog. A particularly crook dog too.

Stay home, eat some soup. Write a little C#. It's therapeutic :)

I think the bane for me getting sick is simple - kids going to daycare...

the first year is always filled with colds, flus and all manner of different ailments..bruises, accidents..you name it.

each time i've gotten sick in the last 6-8 months has been because the kids have passed something on to me.

Strange thing here is that i've actually gotten my flu shot - yet i've still had the flu twice in a year?? i mean, was it just sugar-water in that syringe?

Anyways, i stayed home today as well seeing as i didn't feel any better at all. Actually, i kept getting headaches whenever i was coughing..probably because i've been coughing in my sleep.

I'm seriously hoping i can get into work tomorrow morning..lets see
