Cats, Blue LED Lights and Cordless keyboards
As mentioned earlier, my wife got us (errr...our oldest daughter i should say) a kitten. I was given the task of naming him and true to the geek mythos i named him Titan (for those that doesn't know, that's the next version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM).
I've had countless hours of fun already, watching the little rascal get into trouble. Not just because he's clumsy or incredibly curious (as cats generally are) - but because he's just plain weird.
Tonight as i write this (was actually reading through a whole heaps of blog entries at first) i took him into my office and put him on my desk next to me.
At first he was being a cat, cleaning himself, purring, uttering small miau sounds, and just taking in all the shiny lights and gadgets on my desk. But as he got more and more brave he started taking a look at what these things actually are.
The first thing he spotted, was my mouse pad..it's a blue LED under-lit mousepad and for some strange reason he took offense to it. Started sneaking up on it, biting it and generally just attempting to overcome this "obstacle" in his travels - till at last he got furious with the cable running from it to my PC.
He then found both cables for my Sennheisers and my Zalmans - which obviously was a menace to society and he figured he'd save me from them..After that, he located my iPod and dragged it over to my G15 keyboard and beat the crap of out it (see, cats are smart..Apple is evil!)...
After a 11 round boxing match with my iPod he attacked my new Logitech S510 keyboard by biting it in the corners and jumping up and down on it.
The best thing was when he noticed the shiny lights from my cordless phone..all hell broke loose and i had to rescue the Uniden handset..
He's now very pleased with himself for saving me and is sitting and purring on the wireless receiver for the S510 keyboard..
This has probably been one of the hardest post for me to writer ever..mostly because the tapping from the keyboard was a nuisance to Titan and obviously stirring his natural hunter-gatherer instincts and his need to protect me from the vicious keyboard.
I may just start to like this cat afterall...
