Windows Vista Problem Reports and Solutions

A nifty feature of Windows Vista is definitely the Problem Reports and Solutions feature, which collates the problems you've had with your OS, Software,Drivers etc and waits patiently for a solution to show up.

At first glance that's brilliant - it's found 3 solutions to the problems i've had (?)..i rebuilt my machine yesterday because i was bored out of my skull sitting home being sick so it's a surprise that i've had problems..

So, what happens when i investigate these "issues" and solutions that's been found.

Well the first one shows this:

Now THATS simple..just Windows Update and install..

Lets have a look at Windows Update then..

errhmmm...what happened to my "Solution"???

Ok - well it could be that it's just not there..yet..so lets try the second one..that's Creative (oh great, Creative and their absolutely shocking driver updates)...i go there...and what do i see? nothing but what i downloaded on the 15th of March..nothing new..no new updates..nothing.

So where is MSFT getting this information about fixes and updates?? certainly not from Windows Update..and most definitely not from Creative..

So should i try out the third item on the list?

Well we all know what Windows Update showed...so i guess that's a dead end.

# re: Windows Vista Problem Reports and Solutions

Hello Brian, I have reflected over the same issues. What's also annoying is that if I solve a problem (by installing a fix) they problems will still remain in the Problem Reports and Solutions Center. I have two good examples; SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005, both of them are still visible but I have applied the recommended patches.
