Hi Susan,

For a great SQL book, I'd recommend two:
Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft SQL Server 2000 in 21 days (get 2nd edition or 3rd if there is one by now) by Richard Waymire and Rick Sawtell
ISBN 0-672-32469-2

The other (more detailed) is the MS Press bible the ng raves about is
"Inside Microsoft SQL Server 2000" by Kalen Delaney

I come from a dBase II background (through all the dBases, FoxPro, Clippers etc) and found moving to SQL rough, but the first book was an easy read, the other were a real pain and I use them only for reference.

There are also great tutorials and the NG is great.
