The same here. I created a global security group with rights to all mailboxes and added Administrator to it. This keep the default setup intact.

I have what I think is an easier way to do this when i was faced with this problem.

I created a new user account (svexmerge for example) and granted that account rights to the mailboxes. Then, i use runas to run exmerge as that user. This way, I didnt have to muck with inheritance and what not.

Two ways to skin a cat, but this way the default setup remained in place.
