But, it&amp;#39;s also a helpful thing so that people trying to send to you can be told that you&amp;#39;re blocking their mail, instead of dumping it into a quarantine that might never be checked. In other words, it has the potential to help drive the reform of a blacklisted sender, which is what makes a blacklist like Spamhaus successful at what they do -- run afoul, get blacklisted, fix the practice, no longer run afoul, get unblacklisted, stay unblacklisted.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The first is a lack of logging information. Performance counters are of no use when you&amp;#39;re trying to diagnose a message delivery problem.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The second is the inability to change it from rejecting a connection to either adding a value to the spam score or to quarantining the message to a quarantine folder.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I find outright blocking to be more problem than it&amp;#39;s worth. There&amp;#39;s always a valid message that gets clobbered, and the perceived benefits of blocking don&amp;#39;t outweigh the blocking of valid e-mails.&lt;/p&gt;
