Office without a LiveID

Okay so I still can activate an Office without a LiveID

Click on the box to indicate you have a key code

In the next screen enter the product key

You typically get this key from the keycard versions of Office

Funny, I really had trouble to activate Office with Keycard some weeks ago. It required me to register the key to an email address, prior to be able to activate it via product key. I probably did something wrong.

This is the actual key you get in the packaging with the "license card only" versions in Office?  From my experience, you get a "temporary key" with these versions, then have to log in online to get the "regular key" to past in the activation.

Maybe I'm remembering it incorrectly but I've never found an easy way to activate those copies of office, which a majority of our clients buy as they are the least expensive.

it is not this part that needs the liveID - it is when you first run the trial of office (which is usually installed by default on a new pc) it will sk you to enter your key, then associate it to a liveID.

Don't run the trial.  Let me do a post from start to finish.

Do your post with a PKC that hasn't been used or activated yet...

I agree. We have used PKC and never been able to activate it without a LiveID. If we choose the "Enter Product Key" option, the next step it gives is to "Redeem Online". But if you could provide a start-to-finish of which media install to use, and how to activate without the LiveID requirement, that would be fantastic. Thanks.

We seem to be having a spate of brand-new (never unwrapped) 2013 H&B PKC licenses needing phone activation for the 2nd (online generated) key.

Would love to be shown that we've missed a step - three of us have tried to avoid needing to put the boxed key into MS's website to get the 2nd key...

After entering the key it will ask to attach it to a microsoft id.

I keep reading this on multiple websites, including on Technet Blogs. I don't know if we're talking about different products, but when I sell the medialess, Office 2013 for a single PC I select the option to enter the product key. I enter the product key and then am prompted to Redeem Online which requires a Live ID.

It's especially frustrating when I sell into a small business. I create a generic account for each company (e.g. licensing@mycompany.com) and register all copies of Office against the one account. Fine so far, but if I then need to reinstall the software, I have to select the correct license from a list that presents something like:

Microsoft Office Home & Business

Microsoft Office Home & Business (1)

Microsoft Office Home & Business (2)

So now I have to sign in to activate each license and also keep a spreadsheet that matches the 25 character license code against the list above.
