Catch it while it lasts

So if you are looking for a low cost internet enabled device, this might be the time to snap one up.

http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/long-netbook-asus-acer-axe-article-1.1231506  Acer announces that the netbook style will be the last of the breed and will no longer be manufacturered.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, you can purchase a netbook via ATT Wireless for only $39 plus a two year contract - http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/acer/aspire-ao722-charcoal-black.html#fbid=dES2QO0xhsm

Ships with 2 gig, will support 4 gig and can be flipped to a SSD.

So if someone needs a cheap, last of it's breed, netbooks, you might want to jump on that while it lasts.

# To netbook. or not to netbook

The problem with a lot of these devices is that nobody just surfs on plain HTML websites anymore.  If you want to watch video, or visit any website with any amount of JavaScript on it, Atom processors just suck.  The ATT model is an AMD C-50, which is an older model of AMD's netbook-type APU's, so they at least have decent graphics capabilities.  Take one of these systems, put an SSD and Windows 8 on it, and you're laughing.  With the Radeon graphics, you at least get real GPU acceleration that helps speed up IE and Office.  An Atom processor won't give you that.
