Quite frankly this is a service pack for Windows 8.  And it's not just fixing this stuff....

  • Increased power efficiency to extend battery life
  • Performance improvements in Windows 8 applications and Start screen
  • Improved audio and video playback in many scenarios
  • Improved application and driver compatibility with Windows 8
  • It's fixing this stuff:

Where are the updates for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012?
The updates for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 are included in the "Windows 8 Client and Windows Server 2012 General Availability Cumulative Update" (KB2756872). For more information and download links, see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 2756872. These updates are also available from Microsoft Update and Windows Update.

That big update for Windows 8 is fixing that timestamp issue.  Make no mistake - this is a service pack.

What's worse, is this service pack won't install on certain machines that did upgrades to windows 8. A tool was provided with something about migration in it's name, but it failed to run for me. The update sits at 13% for 45 minutes then fails.

more and more like the endless versions that repair exchange updates lately. Fairly disappointed.
