KB2596764 failing to install

Seeing four five computers in my office fail to install this update when they have PowerPoint 2010 installed.

If you are seeing this issue, please let me know as I've got a case opened up today on this.

If you are seeing this -- what version of Windows  7? (pro enter/ult?)
Was Office 2010 upgraded from Office 2007?

Let me know if you are seeing this as well.

I had only one PC in my office experience this.

-Win 7 Pro

-Office was upgrade from 2007 to 2010

fail to install, office was previuosly upgraded from 2007 to 2010. not sure why this update is trying to instal in the 1st place.

That blog post worked for me too, thanks - the Microsoft 2007 primary interop assemblies was the culprit, when only Office 2010 is now installed.

I am still having consistent failure with the installation of this update. Latest occurrence this morning (12 Jan) but has occurred daily since 15 Dec.  I have Powerpoint 2010 upgraded from 2007.  Windows 7 64bit 6.1 with SP1 installed.

same deal - what's with this?  It's an "important" update therefore how come Microsoft haven't come up with a fix with so many reporting the same problem on upgrade attempts?

OH duh sorry lost track of which issue this was. It's due to the fact you have Office 2007 interop components installed.  There will be no fix.  

Simply uninstall 2007 Office interop components and it will go away.
