Looking for the Source tool log file?
One of my pet peeves is where Microsoft lays down log files.

When you install the SBS 2008 (and I'm assuming SBSv7 too) source tool, the log file it loads up on the SBS 2003 is dumped into the c:\documents and settings\administrator(or whatever domain admin account you used)\localsettings\temp folder.
Me, I'd stick them in a LOG folder and not a temp file.
The other way you can tell if the source tool has been run on a SBS 2003 is this registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Migration]
"MigrationReady"=dword:00000001
"LastCheckTime"="whenever_you_ran_it"
