Cheapest way to run SBS 2011 in Hyper V revisited
So a comment about the post about the cheapest way to install SBS 2011 in Hyper V.
What about Hyper-V Core R2 and Core Configurator 2.0 from Codeplex if you don't care for CL? I've been using that setup and it works quite well.
True. But you have to discuss with your client the "hit by a bus" factor. Let's be realistic, there are some var/vaps that either don't do much windows core stuff, or perhaps are more vmware religious, so the issue I think about from the business owner view is that whatever platform I settle on, I want to make sure that if I need to hire consultants that they can pick up the platform somewhat easily. I know that I personally feel more comfortable on a SMB server that isn't in a datacenter that the parent partition is a full gui should something hork up for some reason. Not to mention you can put the hardware vendor management software on it.
Bottom line it's the marriage between what YOU do well and what the client is comfy with too.
