One of the promised land issues in cloud deployments is that you never have to worry about upgrades.

One of the promised land issues in cloud deployments is that you never have to worry about upgrades.

The reality is vastly different.  Just ask the Sidekick folks about how well upgrades go.  And on the Google doc front, just because someone else updates doesn't mean that the problems go away...

Bugs hit Google Docs after recent upgrade:

Bottom line, I don't care how big or small you are, there are risks in updating.  Period.  Whether we do it, he does it, they do it, we all deal with the resulting aftermath.

Yep, and what happens when you have multiple cloud providers, and some apps need one version of Java, and others don't for example. At a client we have an issue where one Manufacturer uses an onlnine service that needs an old version of Java, and another needs a new version of Java. Its just as bad as installing local APPS!
