Why do?

Why do HP's sound like a jet engine when they start up?

I've been told it's the boot fan test they do.

Why do servers attract dust "hippos"... not "bunnies" but "hippos" because there is downright dirt on the harddrives inside of servers.

If you have [significant] dust in your servers your HVAC isn't doing its job.

It means I need to clean my house more often.  That's at my home.

HPs and IBMs do the same thing with the boot noise thing. Sound like a jet taking off.

Nothing like pickup up a server after an SMB client has had it on the floor for three years...yuck!

I used to have a client who kept his old "server" in his office. When he moved up to an ML 350 I asked him where he wanted it. He said in his office.

The second I started it up - and it did that jet engine test - he jumped out of his chair and said "Let's find a better place for that to live."
