It breaks sessions only if browsed on localhost.

Works across the network.

Access denied in sharepoint if using IE with KB963027 when browsing on localhost but is fine across network. Some information is availlable at the MS site.

What is the URL being used to access the local host; specifically i'll be interested in the 'host name' part. Are you using machine aliases (defined in 'hosts' file) or IPv6 address is being used?

This also breaks the accessing of shares from a remote location and the workaround does not fix that part of the issue.
