Stealing from a newsgroup pot from Andrew Alaniz --
I know this is late, but I wanted to hit up as many forums as I could with
what I have recently found regarding SBS 2003 and DPM 2007.
Please review my blog at http://ctsitguru.blogspot.com my latest entry
details performing a bare bones restore of SBS 2003 with DPM 2007. The catch
is you must have the Enterprise agent in order to use the System Restore Tool.
I too ran into the issue where the SBS is the only DC/DNS in the network and
so how do DPM then know it even exists if it fails. You must first keep
recovery points using the SRT and file level backups using DPM.
A few other quirks with SBS:
-Do not run DPM backups of the information store or SQL server while also
running SBS backups. You will run into issues with conflicts in the
transaction logs.
-DPM does not recognize WSS2.0 as SharePoint therefore you cannot use it to
perform file level backups of SharePoint.
-Make sure you have lots of disk space on the server running DPM because any
decent backup plan for SBS is going to take up a bit of space.
