There's another reason for the hatred of the trial version... it screws up group policy deployment of Office. When a trial version is left behind and a different version is deployed, it screws up the "enterprise" deployment of Office. So much so that one has to manhandle the machine and manually remove the offending trial version. As someone said...that trial version is the new 'crapware'.
So when you are faced with a new OEM machine and you have a volume license version of office to deploy... remove that trial version first so it doesn't bite you ....
