Are you aware that this won't work over the EDGE network?

I can use this method to connect over wi-fi, but not over EDGE.  Apple support says that 'certain devices cannot use IMAP over SSL on the EDGE network', and apparently the iPhone is one of them.

I'm not willing to turn off ssl, so do you know of any other way to do this?
