(just a rant..is it me or do the Sharepoint folks just way way too much into command line/scripts and what not.... if you want us to consume this stuff... how about making the documentation and consumption a tad bit easier?)

Remember if you want WSS 3.0 installed...

 I copied all the Sharepoint templates to c:\sharepoint, then found the stsadm.exe file under this folder, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN set up the batch files (I had to delete and then replace the "quote") and then they ran just fine...

Well they did something...but they aren't showing up as templates...stay tuned...

All the WSS 3.0 templates work just fine on SBS 2003, all of them.

You did add and deploy the Application Template Core solution first, then did an stsadm -o copyappbincontent first, right?

The Server Admin Templates (*.wsp) are visible when you create a new SharePoint Web using the SharePoint Central Administration site.

The Site Admin Templates (*.stp) are loaded on a per-SharePoint site basis via the Site Templates entry.

The whole enchilada is visible when you create a new subsite.

The command line interfaces are for mass deployment and administration of WSS components. Very useful when you're managing a large WSS farm, or if you want to automate the creation and management of your WSS installations.
